Nissan has decided to kill off their LMP1 program :(
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Even though it wasn’t successful you gotta give credit to Nissan and Ben Bowlby and Co. for even trying something so batshit insane. It would’ve been easy to build an Audi/Porsche/Toyota clone but at least they tried something different.

Sorry but it sucked. Thank you Nissan.

I’d say it was pretty doomed, too, but then, there’d probably some blokes in some other place or some other marque who would entertain the idea, create a front-engined, FWD LMP1 car and actually finish on the podium. And this is what they’ll mention as inspiration.
As for me... I can sense that there’s a way to make the car work marvelously as intended and designed, and actually shock everyone with a win at Le Mans, but don’t ask me, I’m just a commenter.

I think that’s the wrong decision. They got attention with this ill-fated concept than Toyota with a regular but second place race car. And isn’t it all about attention why gig companies go racing? There’s no such thing as love for cars or races in blue chips.

Same, I’d have liked to see where they’d be with a few more years development and a bit more cash. Rumor is that Nissan wasn’t willing to invest the kind of money the team needed to make the car competitive, they just wanted an attention-grabbing LMP1 with Nissan’s name on it, and once it became clear how much of a dog the car was they just pulled the plug instead of committing more resources to it.

That’s the problem with the bean counters. You can’t measure certain marketing effects. As in this case Nissan positions itself as a brand for ou-of-the-box-thinkers. But maybe it will take it’s full effect only in years as fans of the weired concept maybe by a new car years from now.

That sucks. Would have been nice to see it race at 100% functionality.

That’s what I don’t get, Nissan didn’t even get a chance to see the car at full strength before cancelling the program. Really is a shame.

Hey man, I wrote up some rules and a schedule for an endurance series with GT and LMP cars I was thinking of and now plan on running and posted it to my personal blog. I’m going to post it to Oppo and Digital Burnouts at some point tomorrow, but I wanted you to take a look at it first and tell me what you think.

In England at the moment so this is the first time I’ve had the chance to get on the Internet, sorry dude. I don’t see any problems, my only concern would be fielding enough cars to ensure racing is competitive across all classes. Our Le Mans and Petit Le Mans races were a bit sparse to really have multiple classes so we might have to limit it to one class or the other depending on how many people sign up. Your series, your call, just my $.02
